Kössen in winter
During this time of year 30 km of wonderful pistes and 140 km cross-country tracks connect the three Kaiserwinkl villages Kössen, Schwendt and Walchsee to form one unique winter sports centre. Passing through this wonderful landscape on narrow 'boards', enjoying the sunshine, glittering snow and when ready for a rest or stop enjoying the lovely food and drink the local inns have to offer - that is the Tyrol 'pure'.
Alpine skiers and snowboarders also get to enjoy themselves at Kössen. The Unterberg is a centre for all piste freaks and off-piste skiers; numerous cable cars and lifts making the ascent easy, mountain huts and inns inviting you to a 'pit stop'.
Hanggliders and paragliders also are in their element at the Unterberg in winter. Winter hikes and snow shoe walking (snow racqueting), tobogganing, ice skating and ice shooting, trips by horse-drawn sledge and walks by torchlight often end with a Hüttengaudi everyone enjoys.
